The sepal is cut and shaped by crushing the sides in with a vice. Texture is added to each petal with the peen side of a cross peen hammer. Each layer to the rose is hammered into a cup so shaping is easier. The sepal is welded on. First layer is welded on. Second layer is welded on. Last layer is welded on and tightly secured. Each layer is brought up one at a time using the torch. Maintaining a consistent red to orange color is important to prevent burning or cracking. With a propane torch, each petal is shaped using pliers. Finished shaping Rose after wax is applied to create charcoal color affect.
